Ben Sherman

Arthur Bernard Sugarman was born in 1925 in Brighton. He emigrated to the United States in 1946, changed his nationality to American, married the daughter of a Californian clothes producer, and went back to Brighton where he bought a shirt factory. Several well-known musicians and singers started sporting the ‘Ben Sherman’ brand- the first company to produce the famous Oxford button-down shirt. The ‘mod target’ that is their trademark- the roundel and colours of the British Royal AirForce- are featured on many of their effortlessly cool looks. Ben Sherman has established itself as an elite lifestyle brand, and is the fourth largest men’s casual wear brand in the UK.
